What Material Should Be Chosen For Manhole?

As we all know, the selection of raw materials has a great impact on the characteristics, load-bearing level and service life of the telecom fiber vaults. So what are the common raw materials for draw pit chamber? Generally speaking, there are three materials: PE, BMC, and SMC material. Lets explain them one by one below.

PE / BMC / SMC Material

1.Polyethylene Materials (PE)

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic resin produced by the polymerization reaction of ethylene monomer. Polyethylene is odorless, non-toxic, feels like wax, and has excellent low-temperature resistance (the lowest operating temperature can reach -100~-70°C). It has good chemical stability because the polymer molecules are connected through carbon-carbon single bonds and can resist the erosion of most acids and alkalis (not resistant to acids with oxidizing properties). It is insoluble in general solvents at room temperature, has low water absorption and excellent electrical insulation properties. Polyethylene is very sensitive to environmental stresses (chemical and mechanical effects) and can be processed using general thermoplastic molding methods.

 

2.Bulk Molding Compound Material (BMC)

Bulk molding plastic is a fiberglass reinforced polymer material that comes in bulk bag and bulk form. BMC is composed of polymer resins, various inert fillers, fiber reinforcement materials, catalysts, stabilizers and pigments to form a viscous body. It is highly filled and reinforced with short fibers. The plastic component of BMC is usually polypropylene, but other types can be used. The fiber component is usually glass, but can also be carbon fiber or aramid fiber. The resulting material from this combination can be processed into any shape and molded into any desired size. Depending on the end use, BMC is formulated to achieve superior mechanical properties, strict dimensional control, flame retardant, high dielectric strength, corrosion resistance and superior strength. Its excellent flow characteristics make block molding plastics suitable for a variety of applications and available in a variety of colors.

 

3.Sheet Molding Compound (SMC)

SMC is a mixture of polymer resins, inert fillers (calcium carbonate, talc or wollastonite), fiber reinforcement materials, catalysts, pigments, stabilizers, release agents and thickeners. The glass reinforcement is between 10% and 60%, and the fiber length is slightly longer than that of bulk molding plastics (BMC). The SMC production method ensures complete integration of the fiber and resin. SMC manufacturing is a continuous on-line process. General: Sheet molding plastics made of fiber impregnated with resin paste or chopped fiber felt covered on both sides with a polyhexene film.
