India Puts Pressure on Chinese Fiber Optic Products

On August 3, 2023, the Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance of India issued a notification No. 07/2023-Customs (ADD), stating that it accepts the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India’s May 5, 2023 regulations on imports from China, Indonesia, and South Korea. Non-dispersion shifted single-mode optical fiber [Dispersion Unshifted Single-mode Optical Fiber ) "SMOF"] made an affirmative final ruling on anti-dumping, and decided to impose anti-dumping duties on the products involved in the above countries for a period of 5 years, of which China is 122.41 to 537.30 US dollars /KFKM, US$ 807.88 /KFKM for South Korea, and US$ 857.23 /KFKM for Indonesia, (see the final announcement of this case for taxation details). This measure takes effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. The products involved are non-dispersion-shifted single-mode fiber ( G.652 ) and bend-insensitive single-mode fiber ( G.657 ), involving products under Indian customs code 90011000. The anti-dumping measures in this case are not applicable to dispersion-shifted fiber ( G.653 ), cut-off wavelength-shifted single-mode fiber ( G.654 ) and non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber ( G.655&G.656 ).

On May 6, 2022, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued an announcement stating that in response to the application submitted by the Indian company Birla Furukawa Fiber Optics Pvt. investigation. On May 5, 2023, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India issued an announcement, making an affirmative final ruling on the anti-dumping case, and suggested imposing anti-dumping duties on the products involved in the above-mentioned countries.
